Another Update

We haven’t been updating the site as much as we should, I’m afraid.  But here’s the latest:

The wedding was so much fun.  And married life is different than non-married life. In a good way.  We can’t exactly explain why.

Here are some pictures from the wedding.  Sorry there are no captions.  If you were there and have photos to share, send them to us so we can add them to the gallery…

The ceremony was fun.  All accordion music, mostly show tunes.  Jorenz, one of the best men, sang a medley of rainbow songs I assembled, including “Look to the Rainbow,” “Over the Rainbow,” and culminating in a “Rainbow Connection” singalong.  Kevin’s family came from Taiwan, my family came from all over.  Friends came from everywhere else.  One of Kevin’s friends in Taiwan who couldn’t make it crafted a traditional Chinese wedding basket with two teddy bears inside–one white and one yellow.  We included a traditional Chinese tea offering in the ceremony, in which we kneel and offer tea to the two sets of parents.  It was pretty emotional.  The 1930’s gypsy jazz band that played during the reception was great.  I sang a Sondheim song called “Marry Me a Little.”  All in all, everything wentoff without a hitch… except for one big one, I suppose.

Unfortunately, California events didn’t go so smoothly in the months that followed.  While the rest of the nation was celebrating in November, it was quite bittersweet for us here.  For the week preceding the election, Kevin and I worked “No on 8″ phone banks, stood on the street for hours with signs at visibility rallies, walked the neighborhood door-to-door, and passed out leaflets at polling places on election day.

After the election, we went to various protests in Pasadena and LA.  Some were really large.  I don’t know if they’ll have any effect.  We’ll have to wait until next year and see.

Happy Holidays!

Just under two weeks away and everything is coming together. We’re really excited.

On behalf of California’s “No on 8″ campaign, we would like to thank those who generously donated to fight the November initiative.

Proposition 8 is an initiative on the California November ballot seeking to take away the fundamental freedom to marry from same-gender couples.

We invite you to make a contribution to the Equality for All campaign to defend this freedom.
